🎓 BASIS Student Signs NCAA Letter of Intent to MIT — On February 4, senior tennis player Michelle Ge signed her NCAA letter of intent to MIT during BASIS Independent Silicon Valley's first signing day ceremony. With a 130-55 high school record, Ge played a pivotal role in leading her school's tennis program to an undefeated season.
🧠 BASIS Independent Team Ranks 8th at National Quiz Tournament — At the 2026 Middle School National Championship Tournament in Chicago, a BASIS Independent Silicon Valley team secured 8th place out of 192 teams from 30 states during the weekend of May 9. Ishaan Dinesh earned all-star recognition by correctly answering 58 tossup questions in the preliminary rounds.
🔤 BASIS Student Qualifies for National Spelling Bee — Sixth-grader Ishani Dasgupta from BASIS Independent Silicon Valley finished among the top four at the Bay Area Scripps Regional Spelling Bee on March 29, 2026, qualifying for the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. With two years of competition under her belt, she plans to dedicate an hour a day to prepare, along with additional weekend study sessions.
