🎓 29 Mitty Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists — Twenty-nine Archbishop Mitty seniors have been recognized as Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Competition, ranking them among the top 1% of high school seniors nationwide. Their advancement was based on PSAT performance, and they will compete for National Merit Scholarships later this year.
🏆 Nitya Pisolkar Awarded Prestigious Rensselaer Medal — Senior Nitya Pisolkar has been awarded the Rensselaer Medal, a prestigious honor recognizing excellence in mathematics and science. This award is given to one outstanding student at each participating high school and may lead to a merit scholarship at RPI for students who enroll there.
💻 Seniors Showcase Award-Winning Project at ACM Meeting — Seniors Lalit Kovvuri, Vighnesh Ganti, and Vrishank Ram presented their project, “Closing the Loop: Using Computer Vision to Auto PCB E-Waste Sorting,” at a San Francisco Bay Area ACM meeting. The project secured 2nd place at the Synopsys Science & Technology Championship, receiving accolades for its innovation and potential real-world impact.
🧬 Five Students Win First Place at Berkeley Competition — Kevin Ma, Benjamin Ma, Benjamin Nguyen, Vrishank Ram, and Vishnu Manikandan earned 1st place in the Biological Category at the Berkeley Bioengineering High School Competition. Their project stood out among more than 80 teams and 350 participants, receiving exceptional feedback from judges.
🏊♂️ Monarch Swimming Teams Excel at CCS and CIF Championships — In a historic 2026 season, Mitty’s men’s and women’s swimming teams captured CCS titles and performed strongly at the CIF State Championships. Highlights included a 2nd place finish for the women by just 1 point, the men finishing 4th, and a state title in the 200 Medley Relay, highlighted by Shareef Elaydi’s record-setting win in the 100 Breaststroke.
🏆 Monarch Baseball and Softball Win CCS Championships — The Monarch baseball and softball teams clinched CCS championships to conclude their 2026 seasons. The softball team also secured the WCAL title and the CCS Open Division Championship, marking the program's 16th CCS title, the most in section history.
🏆 Archbishop Mitty Spring Athletes Celebrate Championship Wins — Archbishop Mitty celebrated a successful spring season marked by the softball team’s 1–0 victory over Willow Glen for the 2026 CIF Central Coast Section Open Division Championship. Additionally, the baseball team clinched the 2026 CIF Central Coast Section Division II Championship, showcasing a season of teamwork and postseason success.
🏆 Mitty Speech & Debate Achieves Ninth Outstanding Distinction Honor — At the 2026 National Speech & Debate Tournament, Archbishop Mitty Speech & Debate earned the School of Outstanding Distinction for the ninth time. Avi Gupta ’26 and Kostantina Bala ’27 were crowned National Champions in Duo Interpretation, alongside multiple additional national finalist finishes.
