🎶 Jazz Band and Choir Shine at Santa Cruz Festival — At the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival, students from Archbishop Mitty's Jazz Band and Jazz Choir achieved remarkable success. Soloist Awards were given to Alana Arney, Adrian Vanderhaegen, Neal Sampson, Melissa Jimenez, and Colin Watson. The Jazz Choir earned a Unanimous Superior rating and will compete next at the California Jazz Championships.
🏆 Mitty Speech & Debate Team Named District Champions — Archbishop Mitty's Speech and Debate team secured the title of district champions after competing in 17 competitive events across state and national tournaments. A total of 61 students qualified for the California State Tournament, while 21 advanced to the National Tournament, marking an outstanding season overall.
✍️ Constance Costa Gains National Acclaim for Creative Writing — Junior Constance Costa earned Silver Key recognition from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, along with the Creativity Award from the Young Writers Association. She was also a finalist in the Narrative High School Writing Contest and published her first book, The Echo of a Dream, earlier this spring.
🏅 Monarch Students Excel at Synopsys Science Fair — At the Synopsys Science & Technology Championship on April 3, 22 students from Archbishop Mitty High School showcased their research, earning numerous recognitions. Freshman Kewei Li was honored as the Most Promising Young Scientist, while multiple students received awards in engineering and science. Additionally, teacher Thuy-Anh Nguyen was recognized with an outstanding teacher award for mentorship.
🤖 Anish Roy Honored at AI Center Grand Opening — Junior Anish Roy was recognized for his volunteer efforts in coding and ethical AI at the AI Center for Civic and Social Good grand opening on April 3, 2026. The event, held at San José's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library, featured interviews with NBC Bay Area, ABC News, and KTVU Fox 2.
🧪 Richard Peng Advances to National Chemistry Olympiad — Junior Richard Peng achieved one of the highest scores in Silicon Valley on the American Chemical Society local exam, advancing to the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad alongside 15 other students. The national exam, lasting nearly five hours, assesses students' advanced chemistry knowledge and lab skills.
🏀 McKenna Woliczko Selected for McDonald’s All-American Game — Women's basketball player McKenna Woliczko has been named to the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Game, joining elite company among alumni like Aaron Gordon and Haley Jones. A two-time gold medalist with Team USA, she will represent Archbishop Mitty and the West Team while competing against the nation's top players this month in Phoenix.
🏅 Malia Martin Wins Double Gold at Super 7 Invitational — Senior Malia Martin achieved a remarkable feat by earning first place in both the women’s shot put and discus at the Super 7 Track and Field Invitational hosted by De La Salle High School. Her outstanding performance secured her double gold medals in this prestigious event.
